Online HVAC Troubleshooting Common Questions
How is FixWithAPro different from watching YouTube videos?
YouTube videos provide general information. During a FixWithAPro session, an experienced HVAC professional guides you based on your specific system, answers your questions in real time, and helps you make safe, informed decisions.
What if my issue requires a technician?
If the troubleshooting session indicates that the issue requires in-person service or falls outside safe remote guidance, we'll explain why and recommend contacting a licensed HVAC professional. Your session report can help you explain what was observed during the call.
What safety precautions are taken?
Safety comes first. If you report or notice a gas odor, smoke, burning odors, damaged wiring, or another serious hazard, we'll tell you to stop troubleshooting. For a gas odor, leave the area and contact your gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. Our technicians keep all guidance within safe homeowner troubleshooting limits.
Do I need special tools?
No special tools are required to start your session. Many troubleshooting checks begin with simple observations. If a basic tool would be helpful, your technician will let you know based on your situation and what can be checked safely.
Are sessions recorded?
Yes. Sessions are recorded for safety, documentation, and quality assurance. Information about how recordings are handled is provided in our Privacy Policy.
